He was contraband with a wedding band
Attached to him an invincible waistband
Tied to the woman’s wristband

Plight of the accidental husband
Caught in a drunken instance
Before clarity became a nuisance

Vows exchanged in a whirlwind instance
Without willing resistance
Consummated with liquor’s assistance

Glorified marathon lover
Now unable to go the distance
Reminiscing about a former existence

Bachelorhood had a grand persistence
Women flocked without resistance
He promised a grandstand

Experience of wonderland
But life and its wonders dealt a dead hand
All concerned never had a winning chance.
